Itinerary
Days 1–2: La Rioja Monasteries, Wine Culture & Laguardia
Begin your journey in La Rioja, walking among quiet vineyard lanes and visiting the UNESCO-listed San Millán de la Cogolla monastery, the birthplace of written Spanish. Tour the Vivanco Museum of Wine Culture before settling into your hotel in historic Haro. On Day 2, explore the medieval walled hill town of Laguardia, walking along ancient stone lanes and tasting world-class Rioja wines at the iconic Marqués de Riscal estate in Elciego.

Days 3–4: Basque Countryside, Traditional Cider & San Sebastián
Transfer north into the heart of the Basque Country to walk through the 800-year-old historic quarter of Vitoria-Gasteiz and the green foothills of Aizkorri-Aratz Natural Park. Enjoy tastings of artisanal Idiazabal sheep’s milk cheese and traditional wood-fired bread. On Day 4, hike along the coastal ridges of Mount Jaizkibel down to the colorful border harbor of Hondarribia before arriving in vibrant San Sebastián for an evening pintxos tour.

Days 5–6: The Basque Coastline, Urdaibai Reserve & San Juan de Gaztelugatxe
Follow the cliffside coastal path from San Sebastián to the fishing harbor of Getaria, pausing for fresh seafood paired with crisp, local Txakoli wine. On Day 6, trace Hemingway’s favorite haunts through the UNESCO-listed Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve. Walk out to the dramatic island islet of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, climbing its famous 241 stone steps to the 10th-century hermitage set above the Atlantic waves, before celebrating with a farewell dinner in Bilbao.
