We will meet you at a designated time at the Palermo airport and transfer you to Cefalu from where you will have your first ride the following morning. Today is a day to say hello to old and new friends, settle in and go over the trip with the tour guides around happy hour;-).

Lodging: 2 nights in 4 star hotel Kalura situated on the water offering full spa, private beach…

A continual half day ride 67KM/750m along the coast takes us to Santo Stefano di Camastra. The hills around this town are a source of excellent clay which has made Santo Stefano the 2nd most important ceramics center of Sicily after Caltagirone.

For those who want more riding we can climb up through the nearby Madonie Nature Reserve, which takes you high above town and into the magnificence of this great island.

Cefalù is noted for its beautiful sunsets and unpretentious charm. As we explore town you are sure to admire the picturesque harbor, alleys and medieval buildings. Our hotel is not far from the medieval district, and one of Cefalù's great tourist attractions, the town's Duomo, a handsome and imposing two-towered Norman cathedral.

We transfer 1.5hrs towards Enna and glide down from here to warm up into a climb that leads to the fascinating Villa Casale. Todays ride of 66km/1,00m of undulating terrain takes us through wild, rural countryside of abundant wild flowers and herds of sheep that are sure to block our way from time to time as we make our way to the ceramic laden slopes of Caltagirone.

Lodging: 1 night in NH Hotel - 4**** hotel located outside the old town offering great views

Today we make our way toward the coast and into the Val di Noto, an area that managed to turn disaster into one of its era’s greatest achievements. The entire region was devastated by the massive earthquake of 1693 and the eight major cities of the region were in complete ruin. The reaction was a considerable collective undertaking that successfully resulted in an architectural and artistic achievement that is revered to this day; earning it UNESCO heritage status.

Ragusa is one of the most picturesque towns in Sicily and our destination is a farmstay just outside Ragusa where you will be treated to extraordinary views and first class hospitality and services.

Lodging: 2 nights - Agritursimo – Relais Villa del Monte

Ride or Relax.

For those that wish to visit town the best activity is wandering; meandering along the character-filled lanes of Ragusa’s Ibla or clambering up the steps towards the upper town and enjoying the great, classic view over Ibla. This is an inviting town for leisurely pursuits - a long drink at a cafe table on the pretty sloping piazza in front of the Duomo, a wine-flavored gelato, a splendid meal at one of the town's small restaurants or a stroll in the park.

For those that wish to ride, we can loop down toward the coast for is a visit of Modica and its world famous chocolate. We can set up a tour and tasting of the facilities. Another side trips can take us to the off the beaten track towns of Scicli which shares its architectural heritage with other towns in the area, but it also has some unique attractions of its own, including a dramatic situation in a basin overhung by churches and monasteries on high crags.

You ride further into the Val di Noto, where a spectacular quiet road leads one to wonder if anyone drives a car in Sicily.  This peaceful route of 88km/1170m through the rural countryside offers continual vast views over a rolling landscape and the past the fascinating ruinous city of Antica Noto.

We pedal a long downhill along a stunning ridge, to discover the newly built baroque jewel of Noto.  Here the tradition of granita and gelato has been one of the towns’ well-known specialties for centuries and we are therefore obliged to try the gelato that is said to make grown men cry.

After taking time to explore Noto we take a short transfer to our hotel on Ortiga Island, Siracusa.

Lodging: Seafront hotel Siracusa– for 2 nights Antico Roma

One of Sicily’s most intriguing attractions is the Canyon Valle d’Anapo/Pantalica, a Unesco World Heritage site, considered an archeological and naturalistic masterpiece. It is a vast, vast canyon with unique characteristics giving testimony from the prehistoric to the Byzantine ages; on the steep limestone cliffs there are about 5000 cave tombs carved in the rock; and at the base, a river flowing through lush Mediterranean vegetation. To ensure you have time to fully enjoy the region of this site and finish with enough time to relax and enjoy your final afternoon in Siracusa we suggest we start with a transfer and begin our 63km/1000m ride from a village that allows us enough time to see park and get back with enough time to have lunch in town.  If you like we can arrange a 2 hour private city tour of Siracusa before our final dinner.

Depatures as arranged.

  • Antico Noto
